Nyquist wins Elevation 2007
by: Justin Kosman

Words by Justin Kosman Ryan Nyquist took his second win at the Red Bull Elevation contest in Whistler, BC this weekend. Red Bull plans the annual event around Canada Day so there are as many crazy, drunk Canadians in attendance as possible. I went the last two years but had a conflict for this final event. It is, without a doubt, the best contest ever put on- in BMX history. Red Bull usually does contests for 3 years then moves on to another crazy idea. Let's hope they keep Elevation going and they take it to another continent.... Here's a shot of Bohan, the second place riders getting some work done. Results:1. Ryan Nyquist 92.12. Corey Bohan 92.03. Brian Foster 87.44. James Foster 87.25. Chris Doyle 86.96. TJ Ellis 86.67. Allan Cooke 86.08. Dane Searls 85.79. Gary Young 85.710. Dave Dillewaard 83.611. Mike “Hucker” Clark 83.112. Adam Baker 81.6

by: Justin Kosman

So I went to log into my email this after noon and I see yahoo plugging the Corey MArtinez video that has been on youtube forever. The last thing I expected to see. Usually it is news from Iraq or 8 Ways to Impress Your Boss. See the screenshot. Is that even news?

Dan Sieg, 180 double whip to fakie
by: Justin Kosman

This weekend Denis Enarson pulled a 180 double whip over the street spine in Baltimore when he was doing the Dew. Denis is gnar and coming up fast. I wanted to post up this animation of Dan Sieg pulling one at Mirra's place last time I was in Greenville so you can see what hot moves look like up close. Some how Dan Sieg will hook up with a random girl because of this post. It probably doesn't even take that much anymore.Justin

Dew Tour BMX Dirt Finals. Nyquist still a baller
by: Justin Kosman

Words and photo by Justin Kosman
Dirt was nuts. First of all, the soil was super dusty and riders were having a hard time keeping it together on the last jump so scores were all over the board- and it was windy. Combine those conditions with the new format (best 2 runs count, instead of best run only) and the finals were nuts. Bohan came out of the box with a butter run and was leading the board for the first round. Bohan had a rough second run and it looked like Chris Doyle was going to steal the show with 360 variations on every jump. It looked like the had it in the bag but then Nyquist came up and threw down a 720 truck in his second run and a 360 whip in his last run. Nyquist is the man, hands down, that guy can handle pressure, especially for 15 grand. Homey has to eat. In other dirt news, Stephen Murray was giving it his all and ejected a double flip in the worst possible position, straight onto his neck. The medics took care of him but it wasn't a good crash. He'll be back. They always come back. I've got some videos of the runs and practice photos I'll upload tomorrow.
Cheers,

Justin

Rain in Baltimore. Kachinsky Touchdown
by: Justin Kosman

Words and Photo: Justin Kosman
It's raining here at the Dew Tour.
The BMX riders are staring at a tarped course watching the sponno flags blow straight out.
No riding. Brian Kachinsky made it down to floor level at the Ravens stadium and went the distance.
"Run on an NFL field, check." Now all BK has to do is climb the pyramids and his life will be complete.
