MexiGames
by: Justin Kosman

In a strange mid-summer announcement, ESPN and Rockstar have partnered up to do an X Games Mexico.
The sweet thing is that they scheduled it for the same week that Props Mega Tour goes to Germany.  Nice planning guys.
Here is the press release:
The first-ever international X Games in Mexico City will take
place Sept. 7-9, 2007 at the Palacio de los Deportes, announced by Rick
Alessandri, senior vice president, general manager, ESPN Consumer
Products and X Games Franchise Managing Director. Along with
presenting sponsor Rockstar Energy Drink, the competition will include
the world's top athletes competing in the disciplines of BMX Freestyle,
Skateboard Street, Skateboard Vert and Moto X. X Games Mexico will be
co-organized by OCESA, the largest entertainment company in Latin
America.

"Our goal has always been to serve action sports
fans wherever they may be, and we believe the excitement of the X Games
truly transcends across all cultures," said Alessandri. "As
the X Games franchise has continued to grow and become increasingly
embraced internationally, we are very excited and enthusiastic about
bringing the inaugural X Games Mexico event to the people of Mexico
City."

"We are thrilled to partner with Rockstar
Energy Drink and OCESA to bring X Games to Mexico City for its regional
debut in 2007," said Gerardo Casanova, general manager, ESPN Mexico. "We
look forward to hosting world-class athletes and watching them perform
on first-rate courses. ESPN is excited for this opportunity to further
enhance our relationship with sports enthusiasts throughout Mexico."

"Rockstar is incredibly excited to partner with ESPN to bring the most powerful event in action sports to Mexico," says Jason May, executive vice president marketing, Rockstar Energy Drink.
"The X Games lifestyle runs parallel with Rockstar's philosophy and we
are committed to bringing the most complete, the most unique, the most
powerful and the most honest energy beverage ever created to the
consumers."

Other event sponsors include Ford Motor
Vehicles, Oakley and Vans. For more information on X Games Mexico and a
complete list of invited athletes, please visit: xgamesmexico.com.

Huntington Beach, Vert
by: Justin Kosman

Capri Sun vert ramp. 90 degrees. Sand on the flat bottom.
Every year the Soul Bowl comes to Huntington Beach and while this isn't the legendary bowl there where a couple guys getting work done on the 16-ft wide mini-vert ramp.
Ronnie Surridge is just plain blasting the f@*% out of this tranny and Dave Voelker extends a can-can like no other. Despite these tricks, despite the Capri Sun logos, despite the mass appeal of a vert demo on the beach, going high will always be cool.

Fuzzy Hall sequence
by: Justin Kosman

A while ago I was out in Salt Lake City with Fuzzy shooting photos and we had this idea for a sequence morph that went arcross two jumps.  The morph turned out sweet but we never used it for anything. Check out the radness from Redline's team manager.

Stair Gap Crash, Sean Burns wannabe
by: Justin Kosman

First of all, count how many times this kid says Bone Death and has fake seizures.
It is pretty messed up how his wheel snapped at the seam, never seen it happed like that before but had it not buckled, he would have snapped his wrists instantly.
This stair gap is insane, but his rendition is epic. At one point he says "A thousand wooden hookers." Amazing.

Gary Young Vans Ad, so nuts
by: Justin Kosman

The sweetest part of my job is getting to see things like this go down and then having them recycled into a killer ad. Three dudes have taken a stab at this spot and one guy, broke his foot trying to get it done. It isn't as curved as it looks. This was the second time we took Gary to the secret Orange County ditch and he made it happen after taking a couple diggers. I lied to him about how far it was from Oceanside so he would come up to ride. I'm glad he wasn't pissed.
